Ellie is an independent archive and legacy specialist working in the expanded fields of art and culture. Her approach to working with artists and estates is drawn from several years of experience in delivering tailored archival projects in homes, studios, museums and galleries. She has dealt with a range of complex and unsorted bodies of digital and physical material related to painting, sculpture, photography, performance, film, moving image, fashion and architecture.
Ellie’s work is rooted in a commitment to:
creating agency for living artists in the shaping of their own legacies
providing structure, support and a strategic vision for the relatives and friends of artists after their death
transforming archives into active, generative spaces that resonate with contemporary thought and creativity. Archival and legacy work does not end at preservation - the use, activation and future life of the archive is equally as important.
Ellie is also an experienced event programmer, and has led a number of creative projects including podcasts, documentary films and exhibitions, as well as securing funding from public and private sources to realise these projects. Examples of past event partners include the International Curators Forum, the Showroom, Ikon Gallery, Hauser & Wirth Institute, John Hansard Gallery, Tate Archive, Turner Contemporary, David Roberts Art Foundation, The Royal Academy of Arts and The National Archives.
Ellie is currently based in South East London and works across the UK and internationally.
