Richard Demarco Archive Project

A project commissioned by Creative Scotland and National Galleries Scotland to develop a strategy to secure the legacy of the Richard Demarco Archive based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The project was led by Mark Waugh, with the support of Ellie Porter, Alistair Small and Aga Mlyznczak, and in collaboration with Amanda Catto and Sir John Leighton.

The work included archival support with Rhona Taylor, and four strategic workshops delivered at Edinburgh College of Arts, Summerhall and Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts from 2022-2023. An online event took place with Richard Demarco on the legacy of Joseph Beuys in conjunction with COP26.

Workshop speakers included; Gareth Bell-Jones (Flat Time House), Dr Judit Bodor (Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art), Sorcha Dallas (Alasdair Gray Archive), Nell Donkers (De Appel, Amsterdam), Francis McKee (Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts), Lois Keidan (formerly Live Art Development Agency), Roddy Hunter (Glasgow School of Art), Jakub Gawkowski and Daniel Muzyczyk (Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź), Adam Lockhart (DJCAD), Alastair MacLennan, Ivor Stodolsky and Marita Muukkonen (Artists at Risk), Anna Schäffler.
